5 Hidden Gems of Study Abroad
Take a look at these 5 study abroad programs that are awesome and often over looked: the "hidden gems" if you will.
1. Krakow, Poland: Jagiellonian University
Krakow and Jagiellonian University has a rich history and thriving culture. UW alum Ben Green says, "Many people associate Poland with its communist past but today Poland is thriving as a member of the European Union. Much of its infrastructure has improved and its economy is doing well... and it still retains its old charm."
The Selling Point. The cost of living is way more affordable then exchanges in the UK. Ben says, "Dorms are around $100 USD a month and my private room - right on the main square - was $275 USD a month. Students can save a lot of money here. Furthermore, Krakow is a central location close to many cities such as Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, Berlin, Munich, all reachable for an inexpensive price."
2. Amman, Jordan: SIT Refugees, Health, and Humanitarian Action
Passionate about social justice? Interested in working in the government, in the health sector, or for a non-profit? Concerned about the refugee crisis and how it affects global migration? This program is right for you.
The Selling Point. This program gives you hands on experience and exposure to populations affected by the refugee crisis. Students visit Palestinian and Syrian refugee host communities, UN agencies, and local NGOs.
